With the election less than two weeks away, candidates are using whatever means necessary (even some illegal ones!) to win the support of voters from coast to coast. One major factor in this election is the effect of social media. In 2008, then-Senator Barack Obama’s use of new media in his campaign allowed him to reach voters in a way that had never been done before, and engage a younger, typically politically uninvolved, portion of his constituency that tipped the scales in his favor.
This election, both candidates and countless PACs, media organizations and advocacy groups are using social media the same way to mobilize, inform and energize the electorate.
