OK GO hits the world of music hard with 180/365, the new live album from their most recent tour, which landed them in cities from Los Angeles to New Orleans. It’s an exciting twist to music because none of the tracks on this album were recorded in a studio. The tracks are all pure tour material, screaming fans included. OK GO brings their unique version of rock, and power pop to the table once more in this album! 180/365 includes their hit ‘White Knuckles’ along with other jams that may well spawn an instant bout of air guitar.

The album has an array of both fast and slow songs — like ‘Last Leaf’ — that will keep you hooked through every chorus, every measure, and every note. Many of the songs, especially ‘Do What You Want’, had the rather magical effect of making me want to jump up and dance along with them, or at the very least bob my head around. The other songs are less hazardous, but still nice to sing along to. ‘Skyscrapers’ is rather unique in that it involves some jazzy saxophone and bass, creating a very relaxed, “chilled” sort of mood.
In 180/365, OK GO offers an abundance of classic, yet creative, guitar riffs, that, when accompanied by the bold, steady rhythm of drums give birth to a series of infectious tunes. The fairly audible myriads of screaming fans in the album tend to make it feel more invigorating, as opposed to distracting from the raw music. This effect is taken to a higher level when, in the song ‘This Too Shall Pass,’ (my personal favorite) the crowd gets sings along in one united voice.
If there were ever an album that I would recommend you could blindly buy and be confident you’d enjoy, it would be this one! Being a relatively recent fan of OK GO, I was blown away by the variation of genres that this album espouses. OK GO has gone outside the stereotypical realm of rock music, and it works. There’s a type of song for anyone and everyone. This is an epic album for fans of OK GO and a great stepping stone into fan-dom for those who have yet to discover OK GO.
