Earlier this week, two rival, albeit dangerous, Palestinian groups, Fatah and Hamas, unveiled plans to join forces to create an interim government.
Undoubtedly, this deal proves contentious for peace talks in the Middle East. If the Palestinian Authority obliges and accepts this partnership, the world will see more relentless attacks on Israel, its citizens, and its allies.
Nevertheless, Israel rejected plans for a Palestinian government on April 28th, 2011.
Reuters noted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reaction to the proposed deal:
“The Palestinian Authority must choose either peace with Israel or peace with Hamas. There is no possibility for peace with both,” Netanyahu said after the two Palestinian groups announced they had overcome past differences.”
This terrorist group has no desire to mend bridges with Israel. As a group rooted in virulent anti-Semitism, unrepentant terrorist activities, embracing of jihad, total submission to Islam, and rejection of negotiated peace talks, Hamas fundamentally believes in the destruction of Israel, the Jewish people, and infidels.
For example, the Hamas Covenant propagates the killing of Jews:
‘The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: ‘O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.’ (Article 7)
Additionally, its preamble blatantly calls for the destruction of Israel:
‘Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.’ (Preamble)
Endless suicide bomb attacks and murders confirm why this terrorist group and their apologists will never agree to peaceably work with Israel.
For example, on June 1, 2001, one of the worst suicide bomb attacks in Israel plagued Tel Aviv after Palestinian assailant Saeed Hotari detonated himself at the Dolphinarium discotheque night club. This terrorist attack killed 21 youngsters and injured 132 others. Following this atrocity, Palestinians rejoiced and danced in the streets of Ramallah. They later praised Hotari as a martyr.
Another example of this perverted euphoria was markedly witnessed following the Itamar massacre the Fogel family suffered at the hands of terrorists from the Palestinian al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. Two assailants murdered both parents, killed their two sons, and slashed their infant daughter’s throat. Fortunately, three of the Fogel children were spared from death.
HUMAN EVENTS columnist John Hayward wrote on March 14th, 2011, about the disturbing nature Palestinian euphoria boasts:
The other horrific reality that must be understood is the Palestinians who “hit the streets Saturday to celebrate the terror attack in the West Bank settlement of Itamar,” as reported by Ynet News. “They handed out candy and sweets, in what one Palestinian described as ‘a natural response to the harm settlers inflict on the Palestinian residents in the West Bank.’”
Recently, Passover celebrations were disrupted in Israel after 25-year-old Ben-Joseph Livnat was killed on April 24, 2011, during a visit to Joseph’s tomb near the West Bank city of Nablus. A Palestinian security guard thought he was “suspicious” and later fired at him while shouting “Allah Akbar” and “G-d is great”. Shortly afterward, the tomb of Joseph was set on fire by Palestinian youths.
Sadly, hatred for Jews and for Israel is not exclusive to the Middle East.
American universities have become breeding grounds for anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias. The Muslim Students Association (MSA) and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) are responsible for disparaging Jews, waging BDS campaigns, and hosting “Apartheid” Week each year. The latter of these is set to commence in the coming weeks.
The MSA and SJP launch a war against Jews and their supporters during this week. These groups bring virulent anti-Semitic, radical speakers to campuses nationwide to call for the destruction of Israel and Jews. Additionally, a mock wall is erected to portray Israel as an “occupier” and “human rights violator.” As a result, students are targeted by these hate mongers and are not protected by their school’s administration.
With the Goldstone Report retracted and proposed plans to create a Palestinian state in September underway, unrest in the Middle East will ensue. Until the “moderate” Palestinians condemn Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Palestinian Authority here and abroad, Jews and their allies will be attacked and killed.
“No one yet knows what awaits the Jews in the twenty-first century, but we must make every effort to ensure that it is better than what befell them in the twentieth, the century of the Holocaust.” – Benjamin Netanyahu
Stand with Israel and never forget.
