Rock stars and commitment don’t always seem to go hand in hand. However, there are a few rock relationships that have stood the test of time.
Clocking in with 28 years of marriage are Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones and Patti Hansen. Keith and Patti married on Richard’s 40th birthday in 1983, and their daughters Theodora and Alexandra were born in 1985 and 1986. Patti, a former model, was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2007 and has praised her husband for staying by her side, supporting and strengthening her throughout the battle.
Keith’s bandmate Charlie Watt could teach him a thing or two; he and Shirley Ann Shepherd have been married for 47 years. He has talked openly about missing his wife and family while his bandmates lived the rock & roll lifestyle.
Ozzy Osborne of Black Sabbath and his wife of 29 years have a marriage that’s been a little more… rock & roll. Ozzy met his wife Sharon through her father, who managed both Ozzy and the band. When her father fired Ozzy from the band, Sharon became both his manager and his girlfriend! It’s been a rough road filled with drug use, drinking and physical violence, but they’ve managed to make it through stronger than ever. After three kids and nearly three decades, we think they’re in it for the long haul.
So, the next time your meet-the-parents doesn’t go too well, remind them that looks can be deceiving, and even the most unorthodox couples can stay committed.
